6 The Solution: Easy to
Set Up

The best practice setup is simple. Your content manager (or content expert) would be assigned the user rights to enter industry standards content. The content manager can also "author" or create new custom content. Both approaches utilize the easy-to-use PIE configuration tool. The next step is to configure the content into ready-to-use best-practice global PIE templates, which are then published to all users. Project teams can then easily choose their template and execute the processes from anywhere in the world.

The PIE configuration tool makes it easy for content managers to add, change, or remove content with simple clicks, text editing, and drag-and-drop features. All setup functions are easily accomplished without programming.

If your organization uses industry best practices, such as PMI for project management, your content manager would create process layers and paste in standard content. Then the manager can easily customize the content for specific needs or leave as is for easy industry updates.

A content "author" is someone or a team who has rights to create content from scratch or to enter pre-made custom proprietary content. Content creators could be from your internal workforce or facilitated by PIEmatrix consulting partners.

Whether the content is built from scratch, migrated, or used from off-the-shelf options, you can then easily configure the components to match or blend your methodology structure for any type of project lifecycle. Configuration is used to make global PIE templates for the entire enterprise. For example, you can define a PIE template to have 6 slices and a group of layers for the project implementation lifecycle and another PIE template with 3 slices and different layers for post-production maintenance and updates. Executives can even create their own PIE templates for strategic planning and implementation projects.

Configuration at the project level allows the project manager to select the appropriate template, content size, and other project-specific setups.

We worked hard to make the user interface simple and intuitive. Learning how to use all the configuration features takes very little time and some have said that configuration is fun!

Once your content is plugged in, created, and configured, the best practice is instantly published across the enterprise and ready for users to work with on a daily basis, anywhere in the world!

It's up to your organization's culture as to how best use the best practices. Users can be provided with open suggested best practices to use as guidelines, or your users can be more controlled with strict procedures. Or it could even be a mixture with regulation requirements controls and flexibility for agile freedom. In any case, PIEmatrix is designed to make usability easy and intuitive with features that provide quick value to all project stakeholders.
